Acquired for preservation by Richard Shannon (Newtownards) for continued preservation from the Kells Transport Museum, Cork 9/04/2006.

One of 2 survivors of the early steel framed leopards that ulsterbus owned, 1571 is the only bus seated example still in existence. Waiting restoration at this time, 1571 will be a long term project needing a full strip down. New floor bearers are needed throughout the bus and a new floor required. Side framework and stress panels will need attention or replacement particularly in the boot area, the chassis itself is in very good condition for its age and will only require a clean down an painting. Mechanically 1571 was well looked after to the usual Ulsterbus standard but lyin up for so long will mean a full check over. Any missing parts have been salvaged off scrap vehicles since being acquired and placed back on 1571 so as not too loose any of them.

 The whole back end of the bus will have to be stripped down and rebuilt, at least the chassis is good an sound unlike the body!

 When the panel's were removed it was found the boot floor was attached to nothing and was basically just sitting on the drop frame.

129 an 1571 with near enough everything missing replaced, it will all have to be taken off when shes stripped down for restoration but its just to keep it all in check as to whats needed an whats not

 After a general check over an oil an fuel filter change it was ready to move. Back axle fluid was like goo!A air pipe leading to the back axle was also replaced an the accelerator freed up.

 Early 90s now in N/Abbey, here it was to sit for a bit longer than usual with its then preserved sister 520, the corner of fire damaged leopard 1997 can just be seen.
